American Pathways University requires completion of courses in life skills development (3 credits) in planning, health, and success that result in personal strategies, methodologies, and responsibility.
In addition to completion of the following courses, APU students are also required to perform and compare two supervised self-assessments, one at the beginning of matriculation and a second prior to graduation.

Learning Outcomes of the Life Skills Development Requirement
As a result of successfully completing the Life Skills Development requirement students will be able to:
•Analyze future trends and develop life plans that result in a strategy for their lives, careers, and community leadership (derived primarily from the course "Strategic Life Planning");
•Analyze and implement principles and practices of successful people that result in a methodology for their lives, careers, and community leadership (derived primarily from the course "Practices of Successful People"); and
•Analyze and achieve a decision-making process and personal accountability that results in responsibility for their lives, careers, and community leadership (derived primarily from the course on "Health, Fitness and the Community").
